Well,
It is really good to see that WI fought back in mini world cup group match against Australia. Taylor's Hattrick in the 48th over really did the finishing touch. 52 runs required in 57 balls and you have six wickets in hand. For world champions it would have been a cake walk. And thats the beauty of cricket. And thats the beauty of matches between Australia vs WI.
Whatever be the condition of WI, they keep all internal problems aside when it comes to playing against Australia. Remember that fiary spell of Curtly Ambrose? He was greedy enough to take 7 wickets in a spell and miser enough to give away only one run. What a spell that was... which secured Australia the historic 1 run victory - closest ever in the test cricket history.
I love it when Brian Lara said he don't mind losing to minnows like Kenya (you remember Kenya beat WI in their debut world cup appearance). Lara considered Kenyan's as brothers. Hmmm...! Interesting right.
Well... coming back to the hattrick stuff... All Hattricks are memorable for me. Chetan Sharma's three clean bowled balls against Newzealand, Pathan's fiery first spell against Pakistan in Pakistan, Harbajan's turbunator heroism against Australians and many more. Though I don't want to give much credit about hattrick's against minnows, I really enjoy one of the feats among all the hattricks. Well... I am not talking about Wasim Akram's hattricks that he repeated the feat in the next test match (he is the first to take hattricks in two consecutive test matches)... I am talking about Chaminda Vaas Hattrick in World cup.
First ball of the innings against Bangladesh. Vaas bowls an excellent delivery, batsman completely missed to see the movement and ball goes between bat and pad to knock the offstump off. Second delivery to Ashraful ball stops at the batsman, he tries to push very hard and scoops in the air... easy catch for Vaas. Ashraful was in total confusion for a moment. He stayed there and even while walking back he looked like trying to memorize what has happened by looking at the pitch up and down. As expected SriLankan fielders came close for the third ball... three slips and a gully, forward short leg, short cover. Well this time the batsma edges to the third slip. Voila... Vaas creates a world record here. First over of an ODI and first three balls three wickets! Can you imagine?
Well the story doesn't stop here. Fourth ball was hit for four. Fifth was wide. And things looked like normal. Fifth ball pitched in between middle and leg batsman misses and ball hits his pad. Big shout and there goes the finger up!! Four wickets in the first over. Score was like 4/4. Good figure... isn't it?
Well... looking forward to see this kind of things happen in cricket history. I wish some other country gets test status by no. of votes as a criteria to give more and more fun like this.

Should there be a goal in life?
They say one should have long term goals in one's life.
Why I came into this world? I donno! When I die, where will I go? Why do I die? I donno! All I know is that I am alive. Well again... for what? I donno! Wonderful questions and excellent answers!!!
Right from the day I joined IBM... my focus was limited to getting into a project and prove my worth and stabilize my place in IBM. All I wanted is that at the end of first year... it should not so happen that IBM calls me to say 'pal... you are not worth'. There was some struggle (really??) in the beginning. After few months I understood that here nobody is going to throw me out. And in the current situation they are trying to lure in all ways to retain me.
This is what happens when you don't have 'real' long term goals. Or if your short term goal is not linked to the long term goal. I am not sure about my destination. All I am looking at is the current waves and tides around me. These tides are around everywhere in the sea. If I am sure about my destination I have to travel in that direction. And there are tides and waves in that direction. Cross those tides one by one and reach the destination. Pretty cool... isn't it?
When you are not sure about the destination and concentrating on the tides around you... you reach nowhere. And your goals will be insignificant. Not only for you but for the people who are looking at you.
What about cyclones in the see. hmm... these are very big problems. You may face cyclones if you have a goal or if you don't. What if you are going towards a goal and you saw that a cyclone is waiting for you? Will you continue? You have to!! Or thats what all the personality development books says. Face the challenge and all that crap!! There should be some mechanism to know the non cyclone zone.
Let us assume that we are going to have same number of cyclones in a life. Which one would you choose? The one with a goal and a direction? or the one with no goal and no direction?
Why am I afraid to set goals? hmm... there a 'what if' in my mind. What if I realize at later point that my goal is wrong? What if after reaching a shore I realize that I reached a wrong shore? Thats true. Its better to keep quite than reaching a wrong destination. But said this... what is a right destination and what is a wrong destination?
Ain't I confused?

Thank God doors are closing to Ganguly
Ganguly is out.
Thank God. Ganguly is out of the team. Dravid is a soft leader. He should uproot guys like Ganguly. Play tight and give no room for any kind of gimmics. When you takeover leadership you should not leave any trace of old grains.
Ganguly is fortunate to be a most 'successful' test captain. There are two factors which helped Ganguly to achieve this 'record.
1. Extra ordinary individual performance: You know what Ganguly happened to be captain for 21 test wins. And in all these won matches Dravid averaged 106+. That means there is a century from Dravid in every win 'under' Ganguly.
Ganguly averaged a mere 27 worse to Laxman's 36, the later almost struggled for his
place in the team.
No need to mention the individual performace of Laxman (near 300 in Kolkata where Dada lost hopes and was holding his talisman), Shewags 300 in Multan, Bajji's continous 8 wicket hauls in B'lore and Kolkata (who is later named as Turbanator by Aussies). If you continue there is a list of endless 'extra ordinary' individual performances under which allowed to Ganguly to basking in victory luxory.
Dravid was a inspirational second always. He took the challenge to glove and stand behind the stumps for 48 ODIs so that Dada could accommodate a extra batsman (why not!! Dada never counted himself as a potential batsman... and by all means he need a extrabatsman). Mind you keeping in not an easy job to do. Thats why that is always considered different from batting and bowling.
2. Lady Luck: I bet our Indian captain believes in luck more than any village illeterate. His preparation would be nothing but wearing a new talisman before every series given by his mom, hold it through out the match and let the luck play.
Anybody remember the Natwest finals? We won under the heroics of Yuvi and Kaif. What Ganguly was doing in the dressing room (ofcourse asusual after his pathetic exit that he does monotonously in every match)? He was holding the Talisman and praying that these two guys play well. TV cameras clearly showed him holding those bunch of talismans under his shirt. Well... wonderful strategy by a leader!!! Members of the team perform better when you show confidence on them... not on those metals or threads that you wear, Idiot!!
Oh strategy and belief...??? when it comes to strategy and believing his team strength our captain was a true leader. Irrespective of the pitch conditions... Dada always preferred to bat first. He was very confident about his team, that they can never chase. He is happy declaring shamelessly that 'we have a bad record chasing thats why I choosed to bat first'. What a shame. Don't go with past. Change things!!! Show the way!! what is the meaning of being a leader? And strange thing is that under Ganguly captaincy we lost ELEVEN finals!!! Only final we won is while chasing !!!! (Natwest).
We were rated 8th in ODI and tests. Yes you are right... there are only 8 test playing countries and by the time Ganguly completed his 5 years of reign we were listed at number 8. Oooh right!! You are very right teams like Zimbambwe, Bangladesh and West Indies which at their worst are also test playing nations! But we are even worse to them at one stage.
Thats the end of todays thought ramblings :)

These are the feelings I had, just after reading a forward sent by friend. I have pasted the forward at the bottom of the mail... read that first to understand my feelings.
Woman is showing her commitment to mankind by going through this process(giving birth). I feel sad for this though. When I think about someone who is pregnant... it makes me feel depressed. Will go into deep thought process. Into some 'no place'. I feel energy less. All other tasks in this world looks silly. Most of the woman fulfill the commitment with joy. I think our ancestors are great in imbibing the idea that giving birth is the greatest reward for any woman.
I believe in thoughts theory :) I believe that if we are longing for something... We somehow get it... In some or the other way... if not immediately definitely sometime later. There is some nucleus. We may call it Athma. And this nucleus may not have permanent memory. Memory is only limited to our body - by all means a peripheral. So only thing is that we may not have the 'memory' that we asked for it sometime back. If I ask for something at age of 25 and get that by 27, I will appreciate it. If I ask for something at the age of 25 and I never received it in this birth. I may receive it in my next birth. I will not be able to appreciate what I got that time. Because in my next birth I may want I may or may not want it. Moreover I don't have the 'memory' that I asked for it. Some people walk into our life... be our best friends and go away quickly. We donno the reason. Probably we might have asked for such kind of friend/relative sometime back. So it goes on like this to explain lot many things in life.
With all my soft heart to girls/woman and combining my thought theory... I think I will take rebirth as woman to go through all this process. No wonder I may cry with pain and hatred and curse God that time for the pain that he is making me go through. Because in my next birth God will attach a brand new peripheral. Syam's memory will be formatted when he dies. 'enduku puttinchavura devuda' ani appudu edustanemo.
hmm... so thats the thing. Probably nature is preparing me in this birth by giving this soft heart for woman. Or probably I was a girl in my previous birth and thats why I have soft heart!! Sometimes it looks like there is lot of unfairness in this system. Everybody want to be 'good'. Every 'thing' in this nature want to be good. No place 'wants' to be a garbage dump. Some places become foundation for temple. Some for residential... some for roads... some for rivers... some as mines...
Is it true that every 'thing' in this nature want to be good? May be or may not be. There is a possibility that good and bad is the distinguish made by humans alone. Probably other 'things' in this nature will not 'see' things differently.
Finally belief that 'there is a rhythm in the nature' is what satisfies my answers. Everything has a purpose. There is a balance. Sometimes extremes are met to bring back the balance.

A picture began circulating in November. It should be "The Picture of the Year," or perhaps, "Picture of the Decade." It won't be. In fact, unless you obtained a copy of the US paper which published it, you probably would never have seen it. The picture is that of a 21-week-old unborn baby named Samuel Alexander Armas, who is being operated on by a surgeon named Joseph Bruner. The baby was diagnosed with spina bifida and would not survive if removed from his mother's womb. Little Samuel's mother, Julie Armas, is an obstetric nurse in Atlanta . She knew of Dr. Bruner's remarkablesurgical procedure. Practicing at Vanderbilt University Medical Centerin Nashville, he performs these special operations while the baby is still in the womb.
During the procedure, the doctor removes the uterus via C-section and makes a small incision to operate on the baby. As Dr. Bruner completed the surgery on Samuel, the little guy reached his tiny, but fully developed hand through the incision and firmly grasped the surgeon's finger. Dr. Bruner was reported as saying that when his finger was grasped, it was the most emotional moment of his life, and that for an instant during the procedure he was just frozen, totally immobile. The photograph captures this amazing event with perfect clarity. The editors titled the picture, "Hand of Hope."
The text explaining the picture begins, "The tiny hand of 21-week-old fetus Samuel Alexander Armas emerges from the mother's uterus to grasp the finger of Dr. Joseph Bruner as if thanking the doctor for the gift oflife." Little Samuel's mother said they "wept for days" when they saw the picture. She said, "The photo reminds us pregnancy isn't about disability or an illness, it's about a little person." Samuel was born in perfect health, the operation 100 percent successful.
